ABOUT ME〃 ̄ω ̄〃ゞ

Who are you?

My name is Jeffrey (• ◡•)|. I recently graduated with a degree in accounting and now work as an options trader while also running my own online succulent nursery in Toronto. I’m a hobbyist pianist with a passion for playing songs from K-pop, K-drama, Anime, and video game soundtracks. Besides music, I enjoy drawing and design.

Where are you from?

I’m from Hong Kong and currently live in Toronto.

What do you like?

I enjoy playing piano, especially songs from K-pop, K-dramas, Anime, and video game soundtracks. Besides music, I love drawing, designing, and managing my own online succulent nursery! I got into succulents and eventually started my own nursery business.

How long have you been playing the piano?

I’ve been playing for over 10 years. I had 2-3 years of formal piano lessons, and the rest has been self-taught.

How much time do you spend practicing piano?

It varies. My practice time ranges from 0 to 7 hours a day, but on average, I practice around 15-30 minutes daily.

Who do you admire as a YouTube pianist?

I admire Animenz, marasy8, Theister, and kylelandry. They are passionate about sharing their music with the world, and they’re my favorite YouTube pianists.

What is the opening song in most of your videos?

I actually composed the intro music myself! It’s a short 7-8 second piece. XD Maybe I’ll finish the rest of it later.

How long have you been arranging songs?

I first started arranging songs from K-pop, K-drama and Anime 3 years ago. However, I was pretty lazy the first two years and didn’t really put much time into it. Having said that, I spent a considerable amount of time the past year and actually improved a lot during 2016. I learnt a lot of new arrangement ideas from other YouTube pianists.

Do you have perfect pitch?

No, I don’t have perfect pitch, but relative pitch works just fine for me!

How did you learn to arrange songs?

I’m completely self-taught when it comes to arranging. I learned mostly from watching other YouTube pianists and tutorials to understand basic music theory and gain new insights. I also experimented with different patterns, techniques, and chord progressions on my own.

What’s the best way to support you?

The best way to support me for free is to stream my covers on Spotify! ♡ Alternatively, you can become my Patron, which would help me out a lot!

My Gears and Software

Your digital piano is so beautiful, what model is it?

I use the Yamaha P-255 and P-515 (White) in my latest videos.

What editing/notation software do you use?

For editing, I use Adobe After Effects for video, Adobe Photoshop for graphic design, Ableton Live as my DAW, Sibelius for sheet music notation, and Audacity for minor editing and exporting MP3s.

What camera do you use?

I used a Canon T5i to capture my early videos, but now I use a smartphone for filming.

How do you record your audio?

The Yamaha P-255 allows USB connection, so I record my performances (audio or MIDI) directly into a USB drive for the best sound quality. The VSTs I use include TruePiano and CFX Lite.

I really like your latest desk + PC + keyboard setup! Can you tell me more about it?

Downloading / Purchasing Sheet Music

What is the difference between the Easy and Hard version sheet music?

The Easy (or Draft) version only includes the lead line and bass notes. It’s the most basic and simplest form of sheet music, designed for beginners, improvisers, and arrangers. It can also serve as a reference for you to improvise or create your own version. The Hard version is the one I played in the video. Not every cover has a Hard version, but those that do will generally be available in a sheet music package (Hard version sheet music, MIDI, MP3) for USD $2.50 to $2.99.

What is inside a $3.99 Hard version package?

The package includes the Hard version sheet music (some also include the Easy/Draft version) in PDF format, the corresponding performance MIDI file, and the audio in MP3 format.

What is MIDI and how am I supposed to use it?

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) carries event messages and data that provide instructions for music, such as a note’s notation, pitch, and velocity. It’s incredibly useful for learning, arranging, and composing. You can use MIDI files with various software, including:

 – Notation software like Sibelius, Finale, MuseScore, Guitar Pro

 – Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) like Ableton, Logic Pro X, FL Studio, GarageBand

 – Virtual Sound Technology (VST) instruments

 – Piano tutorial software like Synthesia

Please note that sharing my MIDI files or using them for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited! (,,•́.•̀,,)

How to buy the Hard version package or your arrangements?

To purchase, go to the menu and navigate to the “Hard Version Sheet” page. Choose the arrangement you want, click ‘Add to Cart,’ and proceed to checkout. After payment, the sheet music will be available for download on your account page.

What payment methods are accepted?

Currently, WeChat Pay, Alipay, PayPal, and credit cards are accepted. For PayPal, you’ll need a PayPal account, which you can create here. You can also pay with a credit card through PayPal without having an account.

How will my order be sent?

You’ll receive an order confirmation email along with a download link ♡. The download link will also be available under the ‘Downloads’ tab on your ‘My Account’ page after successful payment. Please ensure that you have entered a valid email address. If you don’t receive the download link within 12 hours, please contact me at funguypiano@gmail.com! (〃 ̄ω ̄〃ゞ The file will be in a ZIP format, so you’ll need to decompress it to access the files (PDF, MIDI, MP3).

Who should I contact if I have any queries?

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at funguypiano@gmail.com (for the fastest response), or message me via my Instagram or Facebook fan page. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

How will you use the money?

I plan to reinvest the funds to improve my videos and enhance quality, making each one better than the last. Additionally, I use part of the earnings to support other artists on Patreon, contributing to the creative community!

May I request a song for you to arrange and make sheet music?

I do take requests, but it’s not guaranteed since I usually prioritize newly released songs. However, feel free to send me any song you’d like me to arrange! <3
